Stephen of Tournai:  Et notandum Gratianum in hac causa alium modum tractandi servasse quam in aliis, forte rogatu sodalium in causarum exercitio<ne> per allegationes informari volentium.  In hac enim causa ponit duas litigantium partes sibi invicem adversas et alternatim modo pro hac, modo pro illa, officio advocationis fungens ex utroque latere congruas allegationes format.  Ed. Stephen of Tournai:  Note that Gratian has followed a different mode of presenting his material in this Case.  Perhaps his students want to be informed about procedure in the courtroom and how an advocate makes arguments.  In this Case Gratian presents two parties of litigants making alternate arguments and playing the advocate by presenting appropriate arguments for both sides.
